Football's governing body has announced a new special
access ticket at the international tournament for people whose BMI is
above a certain limit
The new tickets are a type of special access ticket, adding to the usual offering of tickets for wheelchair users, people with guide dogs, and people with reduced mobility or other requirements.
Patrons attending the international tournament who wish to aviail of the special access ticket for obese persons will need to provide evidence of their condition, with the governing body's website stating "For Obese Person Tickets, presentation of a signed doctor’s note stating the person’s BMI will be required.
"The minimum BMI in order to require and therefore be eligible for an Obese Person Ticket is 35 kg/m2."
A normal BMI range is 18.5–24.9, while someone who comes in at over 30 falls into the "obese" category.
The sections for these tickets allows the supporter more space and feature extra-wide seating.
FIFA only has a limited number of these and other special access tickets available for the games, and are using the Confederations Cup to trial them ahead of the 2018 World Cup.
