Man City owners 'so happy' with progress - Pep

The Catalan spoke with Sheikh Mansour in Abu Dhabi last week and says the Blues hierarchy are fully aware of the situation at the Etihad Stadium
Pep Guardiola says Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour is “so happy” with the progress made at the club this season.
Guardiola and the City squad enjoyed a warm weather break in Abu Dhabi following their Champions League victory over Monaco.
Sheikh Mansour, who has attended one match at the Etihad Stadium since he purchased the club in 2008, took the opportunity to speak with Guardiola and the players, along with chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, a regular in Manchester.

The club’s owners were said to have been left extremely disappointed by the efforts of the City squad in the final months of Manuel Pellegrini’s reign and, despite their gratitude to the Chilean, they expected much better on Guardiola’s watch.

And Guardiola says it is that effort which has so pleased his bosses so far.
"With Khaldoon we speak regularly," Pep said, "but the we spoke to Sheikh Mansour for the first time and I was really impressed how much he knew about us. It was nice to meet him and spend a few hours together.
“He is so happy because he sees all the games and he sees the effort - he demands it. He knows we fight until the end and, of course, it is nice for us to know the president. So it was good.”
Guardiola is preparing his City side to take on Huddersfield in an FA Cup fifth round replay at the Etihad on Wednesday but he says Vincent Kompany will not be fit enough to return.
Kompany, who has not played since injuring his knee against Crystal Palace in November, was preparing to return when City played Huddersfield 10 days ago, but has not been in training since two days before the match.

“He is much better but not tomorrow,” Guardiola said. “Soon.”
Asked if the Belgian will be able to play a part in the remainder of the season, Guardiola replied: “Yeah, definitely.”
