The Gunners held their own against the German
champions in the first-half, but crumbled in the second and look set to
exit the competition early again
With his contract running out at the end of the season and the Frenchman possibly bringing an end to his tenure in north London, Wenger would have hoped things would be different heading into Wednesday's Champions League last-16 first-leg.
They have been eliminated at that stage in each of the last six years but, faced with a Bayern Munich side who have failed to live up to the hype, there seemed reason to be optimistic.
